Terminal FAQ
- How do CS2 terminals work?
- You buy a sealed terminal, activate it and get up to five offers in a row. Each offer is one random skin with its own float, pattern and possible StatTrak, at a fixed price. Click the green button to buy it, or the grey one to decline and see the next offer. Declining the fifth offer consumes the terminal and you get nothing.
- Do terminals need a key?
- No. You pay for the sealed terminal itself, and then only for an offer you accept. Both come out of your Steam wallet.
- What are the odds of a good offer?
- Valve hasn't published terminal rates, so the odds here are estimated from the item pool. Each offer is priced off the Steam Community Market, where Valve sets them, while the skin's value comes from the market you picked. On a market cheaper than Steam that gap is the terminal's built-in loss, which is why most runs finish red.
- Are terminals worth opening?
- Run a batch here first. The simulator totals what you would have spent on terminals and accepted offers against the market value of the skins you got. Most strategies end below break-even, the same as cases.
- What do the auto strategies do?
- In batch runs the simulator decides each offer with the accept rules you tick. Any offer that matches a rule is bought: below market value, below the Steam price, at least 15% under market, or covert and gold only. The rules combine, so 'below market value' plus 'take the last offer' bargains first and still grabs the fifth offer if nothing cheaper turned up.
- What is the max offer limit?
- Before unsealing a terminal you can cap what an offer may cost. The Arms Dealer then only shows offers at or below that ceiling, so nothing pricier ever comes up. The tiers follow the in-game amounts (about $50, $250 or $1,000, and the matching amount in other currencies); Unlimited removes the cap, held back only by your Steam wallet balance. A lower limit surfaces cheaper skins more often but hides the covert and gold tiers.
